Newark Police Arrest Eighth Grader For School Threats

Newark City Schools

Newark Police arrested an 8th grader for making violent threats at his school.  He's the latest of many Central Ohio students arrested for making terrorist threats in recent weeks.

Newark Police report that staff members at Liberty Middle School contacted their office Tuesday, after an the 8th grader told multiple classmates he wanted to shoot other students.

Students reported them to school staff, and police say the student admitted to making the statements when questioned by school officials.

Since the shooting in Parkland, Florida, at least half a dozen Central Ohio students have been arrested for threatening schools and students. Students in Hilliard, Groveport, Beechcroft and Westerville have been charged with "inducing panic" for threats circulated on social media and elsehwere, which led to multiple school closings over the last two weeks.
