Ohio Man Among Missing Sailors From USS John S. McCain

Jacob Drake, a 21-year-old man from Ohio, has been identified as one of the missing sailors from the USS John S. McCain.

The U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer crashed into an oil tanker early Monday in Southeast Asian waters, leaving 10 people missing.

The Associated Press, through a message to his fiancé, confirmed Drake is one of the ship's missing sailors. Drake graduated from Triad High School in Woodstock, about 45 miles outside Columbus.

Navy divers searching a flooded compartment of the destroyer found remains of some of the missing sailors Tuesday, according to the commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.

The collision Monday tore a gaping hole in the McCain's left rear hull and flooded adjacent compartments including crew berths, machinery and communication rooms. Five sailors were injured.

Search and rescue will continue until the probability of discovering sailors is exhausted.
