Columbus Man Found Guilty Of Killing Woman Found In Wishing Well

Franklin County Jail

A man charged in the 2008 slaying of an 81-year-old woman who was strangled and whose body was found in a wishing well behind a home she owned has been found guilty of murder and other charges.

A Columbus jury also convicted Charles Greene on Thursday of aggravated robbery and kidnapping in the July 9, 2008, slaying of Alyce Seff. Authorities say Greene sometimes worked as a handyman for Seff.

The 54-year-old Greene acknowledged having Seff's credit cards and cellphone. But he said he had nothing to do with the killing. He said another man gave him the cards and cellphone and he didn't know they belonged to her or that she was dead.

Greene's attorney said having the cellphone and cards didn't mean Greene was responsible for Seff's death.
