At least two people were arrested in downtown Columbus during an anti-Donald Trump protest that temporarily blocked traffic along parts of High Street.
The event was mostly peaceful. About 200 people gathered in front of the Ohio Statehouse before marching north while chanting about democracy and what they call the President-elect's hateful rhetoric.
As crowds walked, some people honked and yelled support. Some others shouted "Trump!" in victory. Some people standing along High Street wondered what the protesters hoped to accomplish.
"We have to support him and hope that he does the best for all of us. Instead of protesting because this doesn’t help anything or anybody," said John Krenzolock as he smoked a cigarette outside a steakhouse.
Protester April Sunami said she's felt compelled to speak out against Trump.
"People don’t have the luxury anymore to be complacent," said Sunami. "I think a lot more people are going to be more civically engaged than they have been."
Protesters say they're organizing what they hope will be an even bigger event next week.
