Former Olentangy Teacher Gets 106 Years To Life In Sex Assault Case

Deleware County Sheriff's Office

A former central Ohio elementary school teacher convicted of more than 40 charges involving the sexual assaults of several students has been sentenced to 106 years to life in prison.

The Delaware County prosecutor's office says 40-year-old Matthew Rausenberg was sentenced Thursday. The former Olentangy Local Schools teacher was found guilty Monday of numerous counts of gross sexual imposition, kidnapping and pandering sexually oriented materials.

The judge heard from the victims' and their parents before sentencing Rausenberg, who taught second and third grade at Arrowhead Elementary School.

Rausenberg apologized briefly saying it was heartbreaking to hear that his actions hurt people he cared about.

A message seeking comment from his attorney, Thomas Waldeck, wasn't immediately returned.

The allegations against Rausenberg stretch back to 2006. He was indicted in March 2015.
