Strickland, Sittenfeld To Speak At Party Dinner

Cincinnani City councilman P.G. Sittenfeld is getting a chance to spar with former Gov. Ted Strickland on his home turf as the two Democratic U.S. Senate candidates speak to a Hamilton County party dinner in southwest Ohio.

Democrats seek to unseat incumbent Republican Rob Portman next year in one of the country's most closely watched Senate races.

Local Democrats plugged Monday's reception in Cincinnati as a rare opportunity to see both Sittenfeld and Strickland.

The event comes the week after the 30-year-old Sittenfeld aired the first ads of the campaign, nudging Strickland to commit to a debate.

Sittenfeld faces an uphill battle for the Democratic nomination against Strickland. The once popular former governor, who's 74, is the party's endorsed candidate and enjoys strong support among Ohio voters in early polling.
