Ohio Senate President Eyes Ohio House Seat Ahead Of 2018 Bid

Keith Faber
Ohio Senate President Keith Faber says he'll run for the Ohio House of Represenatives.

The leader of the Ohio Senate says he plans to run for the seat of an Ohio House member who is retiring.

Senate President Keith Faber, a Republican, told attendees at the Darke County Republican Party hog roast last weekend that he'll seek the seat being vacated by state Rep. Jim Buchy  in 2016.

Faber, of Celina, is term limited at the end of next year. He had toyed with a run for U.S. House Speaker John Boehner's congressional seat, but said earlier that it wasn't the right seat at the right time.

Faber anticipates running for statewide office in 2018, potentially for auditor or attorney general. Returning to the House, where he served previously, would allow him to remain active in politics until then.
