Poll Says Slight Majority Of Ohio Voters Support Recreational Marijuana

As Ohioans prepare to vote on a proposal to legalize marijuana, an independent poll says a slight majority of Ohio voters support legalizing recreational pot.

The poll by Quinnipiac University says Ohio voters support legalizing recrational marijuana by a 53-to-44 percent margin.

The poll says 90 percent of Ohio voters support legalizing the drug for medical purposes.

Next month Ohio voters will decide whether to legalize recreational and medical pot. If approved, it would be the first time voters have legalized medical and recreational marijuana at the same time.

The same Quinnipiac poll says U.S. Senator Rob Portman has cut the lead of Democratic challenger Ted Strickland to within the poll’s margin of error. Strickland held a nine-point lead in April.
