A pavement renovation project is set to start this fall at a central Ohio airport and cargo freight facility.
State Rep. Heather Bishoff, a Democrat from Blacklick, said $134,000 in state funds to the Rickenbacker Inland Port has been allotted for the project. The money will go to help replace close to 65,000 square feet of decades-old pavement at Rickenbacker's motor pool building, which was built in 1959.
The state grant comes as the port, named for World War I flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker, is undergoing a campaign to upgrade facilities across the redeveloped military base at Port Columbus International Airport.
The state's $134,000 will be combined with $402,000 from the Army National Guard facilities program to complete the work.
