Ohio Governor John Kasich plans a news conference for Thursday afternoon.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich  is scheduled to join state and local officials for a jobs-related announcement in Columbus after spending much of his time recently on the presidential campaign trail.

According a media advisory from Kasich's office, the Republican governor and presidential contender plans to appear at a Wednesday afternoon event with the head of PTT Global Chemical, a giant chemical and fuel-refining company.

Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and JobsOhio president John Minor also are slated to attend the announcement at the Statehouse.

Kasich has been frequently traveling out of state in his bid for the White House. Earlier this week, he was in Michigan and New Hampshire for campaign stops.
