A new poll of Ohio voters shows broadening support for Governor Kasich, and a shrinking lead for the former governor running for U.S. Senate.
The survey of Ohio voters by Quinnipiac University gives Kasich a 61 percent approval rating, matching his high since taking office in 2011.
As Kasich gets more support, former governor Ted Strickland appears to be getting less in his bid for the U.S. Senate.: The poll shows the Democratic Strickland’s lead over incumbent Republican Rob Portman down to three points, within the margin of error.
The same poll gave Strickland a nine point lead in April.
Cincinnati city councilman P.G. Sittenfeld remains in the Senate race, although 88 percent of Ohio voters say they haven’t heard enough about him to form an opinion.
