Remains Confirmed To Be Missing Columbus Man

Police say Cooper was last seen at a market on Columbus' far west side.

The recent discovery of a missing Columbus man's remains on a suburban farm has spurred a suburban county sheriff's office to investigate the man's death as a homicide.

Police say a farmer working in a wooded area on his property found the bones Aug. 6 off Lewis Road in Madison County.

A DNA analysis confirmed Monday that the remains were those of 30-year-old Michael Lee Cooper, who was reported missing in May.

Police say Cooper was last seen at a market on Columbus' far west side.

Coroners found the condition of the remains were consistent with a body that was outside for approximately three months. They are still trying to determine a cause of death.

Sheriff Jim Sabin says police are suspecting foul play.
