Columbus Woman Dead After Bus Stop Collapse

WOSU News
The woman was killed when a COTA bus stop similar to this one collapsed after a car accident.

Police say a woman waiting at an East Columbus bus stop was killed when a car crashed onto the sidewalk and collapsed the shelter.

Police say a Range Rover hit the back of a Lincoln Town Car on Tuesday afternoon, pushing it into the bus stop at the intersection of East Broad Street and James Road.

A witness says the woman was sitting at the bus stop looking at her phone when the car crashed into the shelter and caused it to collapse on her.

Her name hasn't been released. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a hospital.
