President Barack Obama has commuted the prison sentences of three Ohio convicts.
The commutations are among 46 announced by the White House Monday as part of a broader effort to ease punishments of those the administration believes are serving more time than their crimes warranted.
The Ohioans had all been convicted of drug-related crimes.
Shauna Barry-Scott of Youngstown was sentenced to 20 years in 2005 for possessing cocaine base with intent to distribute. Bart Stover of Ashland was sentenced to 20 years in 2005 for conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana and cocaine and other charges. Kimberly Westmoreland of Columbus was sentenced to 15 years in 2004 for conspiracy to distribute cocaine base and carrying a firearm relating to a drug trafficking crime.
Their sentences will now expire in November.
