A gay Boy Scout leader says he may sue over his ouster from his Westerville troop.
Brian Peffly says he was notified earlier this year by the National Boy Scout Council that he could no longer volunteer with the local group.
"I have retained legal representation. We are not certain about a lawsuit. The lawyers are still trying to figure out the best course of action."
Brian Peffly is says he's been involved in scouting since first grade.
His local council issued what it called an aspirational letter last year reflecting its desire to reflect the diversity of the communities it serves. But the Simon Kenton council also said it was bound by national policies.
Peffly is a Intensive Care Unit Nurse at Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center and heads the local chapter of Scouts for Equality.
In response to WOSU's request for a comment today, The Boy Scouts of America said, "While it is never our desire to remove anyone from Scouting, this individual indicated he does not meet the requirements for a volunteer adult leadership position."
