Former Columbus Board of Education member Bill Moss died Tuesday. His daughter said he died Tuesday afteroon. He was 69 years old.
Moss served on the school board for a total of 5 terms beginning in 1978. His political career was marked by controversy. He often opposed his collegues. During his last term he often wore army fatigues to school board meetings and in 2003 he brought a school board meeting to a halt by pounding a shoe on the table for several minutes.
He was defeated in 2003 but was planning to run as a write-in candidate in this year's school board election.
The cause of death has not been released.
