Maurice Clarett to Face Criminal Charge

Ohio State University tailback Maurice Clarett's troubles are growing. A spokesman for the Columbus City Attorney says a criminal charge is to be filed this afternoon against Clarett. City attorney's spokesman Scott Varner says authorities will file one misdemeanor charge of falsification against Clarett. The charge is in connection with a police report Clarett filed in April claiming thousands of dollars of merchandise was stolen from a car he was driving. Clarett's attorney Scott Schiff later acknowledged Clarett inflated the value of the items. Varner says OSU police made the final decision on charging Clarett. The charge carries a possible maximum penalty of six months in jail and a one-thousand-dollar fine.
