Some performing arts groups in Columbus, including CAPA and CATCO, will soon require all patrons, staff and volunteers either show proof of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine or provide a negative test to attend indoor events and performances. The new policy will begin on October 8.
Event attendees age 3 to 11-years-old can still attend performances, but they will have to wear face masks at events.
The organizations requiring proof of receiving a vaccine or a negative test include:
- BalletMet
- Chamber Music Columbus
- Chamber Music Connection
- Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) including Broadway in Columbus, Columbus Children’s Theatre, and Columbus Symphony
- Contemporary American Theatre Company (CATCO)
- Drexel Theatre
- Jazz Arts Group
- King Arts Columbus
- Lincoln Theatre Association
- Opera Columbus
- ProMusica Chamber Orchestra
- Shadowbox Live
- Short North Stage
The organizations said in a press release that precautions are “critical to venues remaining open and performing arts organizations moving forward with their fall schedules.”
To show proof of vaccination, performance attendees must present a vaccination card or a legible electronic image of a vaccination card. Attendees over the age of 18 must also present a photo ID that matches the name on the vaccination card.
Non-vaccinated attendees showing proof of a negative COVID test must have had a PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance or an antigen test administered by a healthcare or pharmacy provider as well as an at-home test within 24 hours of the performance.
