Although it may seem like the the Downton Abbey craze blossomed out of nowhere, its inspirations were a long time coming. In 1989, author Carol Wallace co-wrote a book about an American heiress who traded her money for a fancy English title-- like Cora Crowley, Countess of Grantham. This story was a major inspiration for the hit PBS series, and this hour, we'll talk about the book's recent re-release.
