The following positions are available to undergraduate students currently enrolled at The Ohio State University or Denison University for a minimum of 6 credit hours. All student positions are paid and academic credit is available for students needing an internship for their major.

Job Title: WOSU Student Digital Producer 

Number of positions available: 1

Position location: WOSU Headquarters, 1800 N. Pearl Street, Columbus OH 43210

Work Schedule: Work will be performed weekdays during business hours. Hours can be flexible around a student’s class schedule.

Hours per week, per position: Up to 10 hours per week

Compensation: $10/Hour

Job Description:

WOSU Public Media is seeking a talented storyteller to help create engaging content for our various digital outlets. Our digital audience was grown tremendously over the last few years and we need help to continue to create relevant and engaging digital content.  We are in need of a creative individual that can craft an online story, create compelling social media posts, and assist with the development of podcast episodes and online videos. The student producer will have the opportunity to write social media posts for Emmy-award-winning TV show like Broad & High, Columbus Neighborhoods and Columbus on the Record or investigate and write stories for our digital series Curious Cbus. The position duties also include prepping and uploading videos and associated files for digital distribution on WOSU and PBS’ systems as well as social networks.



Communications, journalism or English majors preferred; Ability to think creatively and exercise sound editorial judgment while working in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.; Ability to communicate and work successfully in a completely virtual environment; Experience writing and creating content, especially for the web and social media; Subject area knowledge in news and public affairs journalism, communication, and/or visual and performing arts; High degree of digital storytelling experience, including previous experience of online writing, podcasting and using social media both personally and professionally strongly preferred; Strong visual sense and the ability to select and edit photos using Adobe Photoshop or similar; Digital video experience preferred.

Job Title: TV Production Assistant

Number of positions available: 10-15

Position location: WOSU Headquarters, 1800 N. Pearl Street, Columbus OH 43210

Work Schedule: Fridays 1 pm-5 pm, other hours as needed for productions for Clients

Hours per week, per student: 4-20 per week, per student

Compensation: $10/hour

Timeline for Hiring: The position will be posted until 8/31/21. Students will be interviewed and hired on a rolling basis.

Job Description:

Students are needed to help: run TV studio cameras, robotic cameras; edit scripts for teleprompter; Run teleprompter for live shows; Setup & Strike Sets; Floor Direct; Run Audio; Production Assist; Edit and Upload Programs to Cloud and Youtube. TV production projects include:

    •       Weekly News TV Talk Show Recorded and Airs on Fridays called Columbus On The Record
    •       In The Know High School Knowledge Quiz Game
    •       Remote Location productions and shoots
    •       Music-based performances in-studio and on-location
    •       Other productions as assigned via client projects


Qualifications: A willingness to learn as relevant skills will be taught on the job. An interest in Broadcast TV, Video/Film Productions is a plus.
