WOSU 89.7 NPR News Welcomes Trecia Pannell As Digital News Editor
COLUMBUS, OHIO, SEPTEMBER 28, 2021 – WOSU Public Media has hired Trecia Pannell as the digital news editor for 89.7 NPR News. Pannell comes to WOSU from the Ohio Environmental Council where she has served as communications coordinator creating content for the council’s digital platforms and managing its social media channels. She previously served as a media production fellow with The Ohio Channel and the Ohio Legislative Service Commission.
A Columbus native, Pannell earned a B.A. in international studies from Spelman College and an M.F.A. in film and television production from Loyola Marymount University.
“I’m excited to join the WOSU team,” Pannell stated. “I am looking forward to being part of the work that enriches the lives of people across Ohio through content that engages, informs and inspires.”

89.7 NPR News is consistently named the best radio news operation in Ohio by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Association and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. More people are listening to 89.7 NPR News than at any time in its history. WOSU continues to expand its digital presence and drew a record 4.8 million users to its website in 2020. These users recorded nine million page views and digital news content is the most-consumed portion.
