American Electric Power has told its workers they must head back to the office full-time beginning June 1.
AEP spokeswoman Tammy Ridout said in an email to WOSU that the move affects about 2,400 employees in central Ohio and 5,000 workers across the company.
The workers will be required to work in the office five days a week. That includes its downtown Columbus headquarters as well as offices in Gahanna and New Albany.
Ridout said that AEP believes that face-to-face interactions and working together have real benefits.
AEP is the second major area employer this month to announce a back-to-work move. JPMorganChase ordered most of its 18,000 central Ohio employees back to the office full-time starting in March.
