PBS KIDS is kicking off the winter semester with an all-new, free virtual PD series specially designed for PreK-1 educators with an emphasis on fun, free tools that are engaging and accessible for early childhood learning, and that feature students’ favorite PBS KIDS characters. This 3 part series will highlight the arts, playful learning, social and emotional learning skills, and meaningful screentime for students. PBS will provide a certificate of attendance for each 1-hour virtual event.
Exploring Arts and Creativity
Following the adventures of Pinkalicious, an artist who imagines possibilities everywhere and sees the world differently from others, this program hopes to encourage children to follow their passions and express themselves creatively while building important skills and having fun. This PD event will explore arts and creativity themes, and discuss how to integrate creative activities into curriculum.

This session will focus on media tools that can be used to teach our youngest learners about skills like patience, dealing with frustration, and how to understand and manage their feelings. A recent study showed that kids who watched Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood had higher levels of empathy, were better at recognizing emotions and were more confident in social situations. This teacher-focused event will discuss various tools teachers can use to emphasize these skills in the classroom.
