In a move requested by abortion rights advocates, Biden is preparing to overturn the Mexico City Policy, which prohibits U.S. aid to groups that provide or refer for abortion in other countries.

The administration called on other nations to oppose efforts to promote access to abortion. Dozens of other countries signed a competing statement supporting sexual and reproductive health care.

The new president has reinstated the "Mexico City" policy first instituted by Ronald Reagan in 1984. And this version is even broader than previous ones.
