Neither Floyd's family nor Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey appear satisfied by the firing of four officers after a video depicting an officer's knee on Floyd's neck inspired national outrage this week.

The decision backs the recommendation of an NYPD administrative judge earlier this month that Pantaleo should be fired for his role in Garner's death in 2014.

NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo was found guilty of using a banned chokehold but not guilty of intentionally restricting Garner's breathing in 2014. The department says he has now been suspended.

"There's not one day that goes by I don't think about Eric Garner," said activist Nupol Kiazolu. "All we're doing is fighting for equity and another day to live."

Officer Daniel Pantaleo could still face disciplinary action by the New York Police Department. In 2014, Garner's dying words, "I can't breathe," became a rallying cry in national protests.
