Saeed Jones is a poet and writer who grew up in Texas. His 2014 poetry collection Prelude to a Bruise won the PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award for Poetry and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award. His memoir How We Fight For Our Lives tells his story of growing up black, southern and gay. It won the Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction in 2019.

Saeed lived in New York for many years and worked as an editor for Buzzfeed, but he moved to Columbus in the Fall of 2019 and settled in the city’s Short North Neighborhood.
