FILE — Ghost guns are displayed at the headquarters of the San Francisco Police Department, in San Francisco, Nov. 27, 2019.

This episode originally aired on Oct. 17, 2024.

When does a gun become a gun? That might sound like a philosophical question, but it’s one the U.S. Supreme Court will answer next year.

The court recently heard oral arguments in Garland vs. VanDerStok, a case about a federal rule classifying gun kits as firearms.

These kits were initially sold without serial numbers or background checks, something the government says led to a spike in ghost gun crimes.

All Sides is deep diving into the ghost gun case and how it would impact Ohio.
