It’s a tough time to be a university president.

Institutions of higher learning are facing enrollment declines, rising student debts and larger questions over the value of a four-year degree.

Republican state lawmakers have leveled charges of liberal bias and they’re pushing back against diversity programs, teacher tenure and partnerships with Chinese institutions.

Then there are the demonstrations over the Israeli-Hamas war.

Into this thicket of issues steps Ohio State University’s new president Ted Carter.

He took the helm on Jan. 1 and will be joining us this hour to talk about his background, his take on the issues and his plans for the future of Ohio State.
