The Ohio Supreme Court last week decided the August 8 election could go forward, saying, essentially, that the state Constitution supersedes state law.
The court ruled that lawmakers acted legally in setting the special election even though a state law passed last year eliminated most August elections.
It’s now up to voters in August to decide whether to make it harder to change the constitution.
If voters do raise the threshold from a simple majority to 60%, it may be too high for an abortion rights measure to clear in November and future issues too.
