Racial inequality in health care

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the life expectancy of Black Americans overall is now at its lowest since 2000—71.8 years—largely due to COVID-19. The death rate for Black Americans of all genders is generally higher than whites for heart diseases, stroke, cancer, diabetes and more.

We’ll look at how prejudice and poverty continue to aggravate poor health and premature death among people of color across the United States.
