Columbus is on a list of cities that could become home to Afghans fleeing their country as Taliban forces take over in the wake of the U.S. withdrawal.
One local agency over the past five years already has helped settle some 80 Afghans, many of whom worked alongside U.S. military.
Today on All Sides with Ann Fisher, we talk about the challenges ahead and the lessons learned from previous refugee resettlement efforts in central Ohio.
Guests:
- Greg Myre, national security correspondent for NPR
- Angela Plummer, executive director of Community Refugee & Immigration Services in Columbus
- Tazreena Sajjad, senior professorial lecturer of global governance, politics and security at the American University School of International Service
