When it was launched 30 years ago, the Hubble Space Telescope was set to revolutionize our understanding of the universe.
Free from the distortion of Earth’s atmosphere, the Hubble would bring astronomical objects into striking focus, and enable us to peer farther than ever into the cosmos.
But, there was a glitch.
Today on The All Sides Summer Reading Series: Kathryn Sullivan, the first American woman to walk in space, talks about her role on the space shuttle crew that sent Hubble into orbit and fixed the glitch.
Guests:
- Astronaut Kathryn D. Sullivan, author of “Handprints on Hubble: An Astronaut’s Story of Invention.”
