Drivers are more likely to cause crashes in the first few months after they earn a driver’s license than at any other point as an independent driver.

In Ohio last year, more than 130 people between the ages of 16-25 died in a crash. Another 17,000 were injured in crashes during that same period.

Now, after a 14-month pilot project, the state is turning to virtual driving terminals to both assess new driver's ability to drive safely on their own, and gather data for training curriculums.
