A confrontation between two Republican lawmakers at a Columbus restaurant is stirring up questions about potential infighting in the Ohio House. The dust up was over the pending vote to expel former Representative Larry Householder from office.
Republican Jon Cross (R-Kenton) says he was approached by fellow Republican House member Bill Seitz (R-Green Township) at a dinner at Lindy's, a German Village restaurant that resulted in a heated confrontation over Cross' upcoming vote to expel Larry Householder. Seitz was an ardent opponent to Householder's expulsion, saying it went against the Constitution.
Twenty Republicans voted not to expel. House Speaker Bob Cupp was asked if there's still discord among GOP members.
"The vote is over and as far as I'm concerned the matter is now in the past," Cupp said.
Seitz also yelled at Democratic House Leader Emilia Sykes during a bill hearing the day after the expulsion vote.
