A Grove City man pleaded guilty this week to felony and misdemeanor charges for participating in the Jan. 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

The U.S. Attorney's Office in Washington, D.C. said Dustin Martin, 30, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a felony charge of civil disorder and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly and disruptive conduct.

According to court documents, Martin and his friend Cody Lee Tippett traveled from Columbus to Washington on Jan. 6, 2021.

They attended a speech given by former President Donald Trump. After the speech, Martin and Tippett walked from the Ellipse to the Capitol.

The court records said Martin joined with rioters at the Capitol and pushed a barricade against police officers.

Later the rioters again pushed past the police line on the Capitol steps and got inside. Martin and Tippett followed.

Martin and Tippett walked to the Crypt and Capitol Visitor's Center before leaving the building. They stood on a terrace for about an hour.

Martin later posted photos and videos of his actions on Facebook. He included a photo of himself and Tippett and wrote "Trump 2021!"

Martin is scheduled to be sentenced in February by a federal judge in Washington. Tippett was previously sentenced to 30 days in prison.
