In this week's episode:
Get Out The Vote
A ballot measure called the "Secure and Fair Elections Amendment" would make it easier to register to vote. If enacted, citizens would be automatically registered to vote when they update their driver's license or state ID card.
It would also allow for same-day voter registration and would require 12 hours of in-person early voting on the last two weekends before an election. Plus, it would require election audits.
The Ohio Attorney General rejected the first first draft of the petition language. If changes are approved, the effort will still need to collect a half million signatures to get on November's ballot.
Primarily Speaking
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders was victorious in this week's primary election, but the Iowa and New Hampshire results did not definitively decide anything. Nevada and South Carolina won’t, either. Rather, it will be Super Tuesday’s 14 states that will have the largest say in who the Democtratic presidential nominee is.
Snollygoster Of The Week
The New York Post reported on what it called an embittered group of “Never Trump” Republicans led by former Ohio Gov. John Kasich working to help Joe Biden win this week’s New Hampshire primary and last week’s Iowa caucuses.
The story also says former Ohio GOP chair and former Snollygoster guest Matt Borges was involved. Borges endorsed Kasich in 2016, which didn’t sit well with Trump, who personally intervened to remove Borges from the job in early 2017. Borges reportedly gave $1,000 to a pro-Biden PAC.
