In this week's episode:
Road Trip
Though he is not yet officially running for president, Sen. Sherrod Brown is certainly following the well-worn path of those who do. His "Dignity of Work" listening tour recently landed in Iowa where he made several stops to speak with potential caucus members. Next, he's headed to several other 2020 key presidential primary states.
Measured Ballots
Ohio lawmakers have complained that it’s too easy to put issues on Ohio’s statewide ballot. A 2017 law allowed local boards of elections and the Ohio Secretary of State to throw out local initiative petitions if either determines the petition is in conflict with state law or the Ohio Constitution.
Now, several environmental groups are suing. They claim county and state officials use unconstitutional tactics to keep certain initiatives from going before voters.
Anti-Snollygoster Of The Week
What's the opposite of a snollygoster? Perhaps a politician who's boring and inept. This week that might describe the Franklin County GOP, who have decided not to run a single candidate for Columbus city government.
