To better serve our members, over the past few years WOSU Public Media has moved from an annual giving model of support, to one that relies on the continuing support of sustaining members. Through this system, membership is ongoing and giving is easier through credit card or checking account payments at a fixed amount per month. This type of giving is not only convenient for you, but gives WOSU a stable foundation and allows us to rely less on on-air fundraising. Fewer pledge days mean more time to enjoy our regular programming. And while pledge drives on radio and pledge programming on TV will always be with us, our sustainer model gives us the consistency of support to better serve you.
With this sustaining membership model, WOSU Public Media was recently recognized with the “PBS 2015 Membership Award – Development”. We were selected above many other national submissions. The selection committee at PBS was comprised of the Development Advisory Council, which is made up of membership and development professionals at PBS member stations throughout the country. Of the many reasons WOSU was selected for this award, the most prominent is that the example we have set can now be applied to any membership program at any PBS station.
We were honored to receive this award and share it with our benefactors and ultimate beneficiaries – our members.
