Thanks to a donation from PBS KIDS® and Overstock.com, WOSU Public Media distributed 920 free books to the Columbus City School District, impacting more than 43 pre-kindergarten programs in local schools. The books helped to foster a love of reading and learning, and built kids’ excitement as they were returning to school this fall.
The donation was timely as Columbus City Schools began a new program this year called “Read 20”, which encourages parents to read 20 minutes a day with their children. The program also hopes to compel all students, from kindergarten through high school, to read 20 minutes a day to help achieve academic success at every age.
