You will enjoy both of these opportunities as WOSU focuses on the work of an international and local filmmaker.

First, in partnership with the Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, join us for An Evening with Abigail Disney, filmmaker, philanthropist, and agent of social change. Monday, October 24, 2011–5:30-7:15 p.m. –Arena Grand Theatre  You don’t want to miss the opportunity to share in this experience. Click here to purchase your tickets. Student tickets are available– call us at 614-225-9926 for more details. We can’t wait to see you.

Second, starting at 7:45 the same evening at our studios at WOSU@COSI —  We’ll give the Women, War, and Peace series from PBS a local perspective when we gather people in Columbus with firsthand knowledge of the refugee community. We’ll explore why refugees come to Columbus and the challenges they face when they get here. The issues we will examine were explored in “Nasro’s Journey,” a documentary profile of a Somali refugee in Columbus. The documentary was produced by Tariq Tarey, a member of  Columbus’s Somali community, and Doug Rutledge. We’re pleased to have worked with Tariq and Doug to present a program about the Somali community produced by the Somali community. This event is free.

We live in Mt. Vernon +40 miles out of Columbus. What are our options for getting local/Columbus stations like WOSU, NBC/ABC/CBS news, etc?
