Forging Your Path colleage of skilled workers

If you have a young adult in your life, work in education or lead a business, you will not want to miss these compelling Ohio documentaries.

Watch the The Career Path Less Taken followed by Forging Your Path: Your Career and How to Get There, Thursday, September 5 starting at 8pm on WOSU TV.  Stream The Career Path Less Taken or Forging Your Path: Your Career and How to Get There now.

How will Ohio face its looming skills gap?

Travel across the state to explore new ways of preparing young people for skilled jobs in this brand-new Ohio public television special, The Career Path Less Taken. Visit innovative programs that dispel common myths about career-technical education and see how educators and business partners are providing pathways to skilled jobs that don’t require a four-year college degree.

The documentary is co-produced by a statewide public media collaborative of CET in Cincinnati, ideastream in Cleveland and WOSU Public Media in Columbus, as a part of the “American Graduate: Getting to Work” nationwide public media initiative, made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Then, Forging Your Path: Your Career and How to Get There explores how young people right here in Central Ohio can prepare for in-demand, well-paying jobs—many of which don’t require a four-year degree.

This program, produced by WOSU Public Media, shares compelling stories of young people from the Columbus community who discover their own unique paths to good jobs.

It highlights individual experiences with high school workforce development programs, pre-apprenticeships, certificate programs and two-year degrees. Join these young adults as they forge a path to the world of work, and then check in a year later to see how they’ve grown in their careers.

WOSU will also be releasing the second season of the Rivet podcast in October as a part of the American Graduate: Getting to Work initiative. Rivet follows the next generation of workers as they step off the conventional career path and find well-paying jobs that they enjoy.

Listen to Rivet on the WOSU Public Media mobile app, Apple podcasts or where ever you get your podcasts.
