A 7-year-old boy died Sunday afternoon, after he fell out of a Ford Explorer he was riding in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood near downtown Columbus.
Police say the incident happened just after 3:15 p.m. as the SUV turned right from East 5th Avenue to head south on St. Clair Avenue.
Authorities say the door of the vehicle somehow came open and Zondeair Robertson fell from the vehicle into the street. The boy was then run over by the same Explorer that he had been riding in, according to police.
He was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital where he died just before 4 p.m.
Columbus police say they're still investigating how Robertson fell from the vehicle, including whether he was wearing a seat belt.
The Columbus Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the case.
