Three people arrested in the death of Canal Winchester speech therapist

Columbus Police have arrested three people, two of them juveniles, wanted in the homicide of Canal Winchester Schools speech therapist Alexa Stakely during an attempted carjacking.

One juvenile, who is a male, admitted to stealing the vehicle, which belonged to the 29-year-old Stakely, Columbus Police announced on social media. The teen hit her with the vehicle in the early morning hours of July 11. Stakely's 6-year-old son was inside the vehicle at the time it was stolen.

She later died from her injuries.

Police found Stakely's son inside the vehicle unharmed. The incident happened at a southeast side apartment complex.

A second juvenile was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Stakely's death on Wednesday evening, police reported on social media.

The adult suspect, identified as 19-year-old Gerald Dowling, is also charged with murder in the case. A judge has set a $10-million bond in his case.
