A Franklin County jury has decided not to indict two Columbus police officers in the August 2023 shooting death of Austin Huntzinger.

On August 9, officers Anthony Sebastiano and Jeremy Smith were dispatched to the 4000 block of South High Street on a call of a man with a gun.

A second call was received about an armed man who carjacked someone in a nearby parking lot.

When the officers arrived, they confronted Hutzinger, who was still inside the carjacked vehicle.

Investigators say both officers ordered Hutzinger to drop his weapon, but he began firing. The officers then returned fire.

Sebastiano was shot in the thigh during the incident.

Hutzinger was shot and taken to Grant Medical Center, where he died.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation looked into the incident, which is standard procedure when a law enforcement officer's weapon is fired.
