A winter storm is headed to Ohio with freezing rain, and sleet tonight and snow Thursday.
NBC4 meteorologist Ben Gelber said Central Ohioans should run any errands today.
"Outside of emergency or urgent needs and I would follow individual county levels of emergency. Any trips, certainly what we call routine, should be completed today,” said Gelber.
Franklin County and surrounding areas are expected to get 4 to 6 inches of snow starting tomorrow.
Gelber explains this winter weather has been in a La Nina pattern with cold air out West and in the northern parts of the Midwest.
“It winds up being a Jeckyl and Hyde kind of winter where you can have a very warm period and then some fairly intense cold, several snow and ice storms and then bookend with some milder weather and a stormy spring,” said Gelber.
Central Ohio school districts have already canceled classes for Thursday ahead of the expected winter storm.
