Central Ohio Transit Authority will host two public information meetings in the coming week to announce service changes.
The meetings take place Thursday, April 11 at 12 p.m and Tuesday, April 16 at 6 p.m. Both will be held at the William G. Porter Boardroom on High Street.
COTA spokesman Jeff Pullin says the most important announcement is a name change for the 2L line.
“We have a line 2 and we have a line 2L," Pullin says. "The 2L provides limited stops up the same corridor as line 2. But because people don’t know the difference, they see the 2 and they think it’s the regular 2, people get on it and it doesn’t stop at their stop.”
It will now be named the 102. Pullin says this should help alleviate confusion for passengers.
Some arrival and departure times will also adjust to reflect changes in traffic patterns and construction around the city.
“So if the traffic gets heavier in one location, then we’ll change those arrival and departure times to make sure people don’t miss that bus or that the bus doesn’t show up chronically late or chronically early,” Pullin says.
COTA makes service changes every January, May and September. One summer-exclusive change is the Columbus Zoo bus.
“So that will actually start May 11. And they’ll start weekend service through Memorial Day,” Pullin says. “Then after Memorial Day, it will be every day through September 2.”
COTA hosts the meetings to gather community feedback about proposed changes. They go into effect May 6.
