The state auditor's office is investigating the Franklin County Sheriff's office over allegations that a unit in the sheriff's office was inconsistent in handling in money seized from drug dealers and other criminals.

According to a statement from the sheriff's office, the auditor is looking into "a concern regarding the funding of the FCSO Investigative Unit."

The unit seizes money and other assets that are used to help fight crime.

Auditor Dave Yost and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office declined to comment further because the investigation is ongoing.
