Senator Sherrod Brown is not a fan of President Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch.

Brown, a Democrat, says he will not vote to approve the conservative justice, who would fill the seat left by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia almost a year ago. But he did not commit to blocking the nomination.

Brown said Wednesday that he carefully researched each potential nominees, and already decided when Trump picked Gorsuch, he would not cast a vote in his favor.

"I knew enough last night to know that he should not sit on the high court," Brown said. "He believes corporations are people, giving corporations more rights than individuals."

Gorsuch is seen as having a strong academic background, having clerked for both current Justice Anthony Kennedy and former Justice Byron White. Appointed by President George W. Bush, he served on the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver for 10 years.

Brown, however, is critical of Gorsuch's decisions, and says the nominee is also hostile toward women's rights and anti-discrimination laws.
