As Ohio State University recovers physically and emotionally from Monday's attacks, hundreds of people gathered at St. John Arena Tuesday night for a vigil that emphasized the campus's strength in unity.
Speakers at the event delivered gently worded, uplifting messages that spoke of the resilient Buckeye spirit. Undergraduate Student Government President Gerard Basalla said the university remains “Buckeye strong.”
"In the aftermath of this heinous act, one thing must permeate: The Ohio State University is a place for all people from all backgrounds and all beliefs," Basalla said. "We will not cower in the face of adversity but rather come together as one Buckeye family."

On Monday morning, OSU student Abdul Artan injured 11 people when he drove a car into a group of pedestrians before attacking several people with a knife.
OSU’s Director of Public Safety Monica Moll read a message from police officer Alan Horujko who ended the attacks by shooting Artan. The officer said he was humbled by the outpouring of support.
