This election, appeals court judge Pat DeWine is vying for a position on the Ohio Supreme Court.
But because DeWine's father is Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine, leaders from the Ohio Democratic Party say if he's elected, it would be a conflict of interest.
As the Associated Press reports, Ohio Democrats say Pat DeWine would have to recuse himself from all cases brought to the Supreme Court by his father's office.
In a statement, the Ohio Republican Party says the top staffer from the state Supreme Court's Judicial Ethics Board has said no conflict of interest exists.
The party accuses Ohio Democratic Party leader David Peppers of injecting politics into the state's judicial ethics system in the midst of early voting.
